POC to headline the Scottish Enduro Series for 2016
For the last two years, the Scottish Enduro Series has gone from strength to strength, attracting many new riders to the sport and highlighting the amazing riding in Scotland. Today they announced their new headline sponsor and also an exciting new ambassador programme. With an incredible pool of local riding talent to choose from, the ambassadors will provide a vital link between the racers and the organisers, and be a friendly face for beginners on the trail. Here is the latest news from the series organisers.
“Today the Scottish Enduro Series announced that giants of gravity sports protection, POC, are to be the title sponsor for the series for the third consecutive year. New for the 2016 season is the introduction of the series Ambassadors. The Ambassadors will provide a conduit between competitor and organiser.
Barry Martin 2pure/POC “ We cannot be happier to be involved in this Enduro institution. The No Fuss team are great to work with and with the addition of Michael Bonney and the new rider ambassadors it was an easy decision to return for the third year. It is a great way to get some of the top riders exposed to the top enduro product in the world. POC will be launching their new resistance clothing and Enduro helmet, the Tectal, at Dunkeld, so make sure you pop along and see us.”
The POC Scottish Enduro Series team have two good seasons under their belts and with an expectation of quality races, riders can look forward to great courses in great venues, slick organisation and loads of fun. Frazer Coupland from No Fuss was asked recently whether or not he thought there would be many changes in 2016. “I think the sport has matured a lot over the last two seasons, we know what riders need and want if they are to progress onto the EWS, equally riders need to feel safe and welcome if it’s their first competitive event. We feel that with the introduction of the Lite category in 2015 it’s easier for the first time racer to access the sport at an appropriate level. As a team, we have introduced a first aid training package for our marshals which has been very well received and is certainly a bonus to have these personnel on a race weekend.”
The series kicks off in March with a new venue for the series in Dunkeld, before winding its way across Scotland to Dunoon, Wolftrax, Fort William and Glenlivet and finally to Ae where the Series Champions will be crowned. As well as new venues, there has been a tidying up of the categories, and riders will be using the Sportident Air system to ensure rolling starts and finishes of the stages. David Spook Munro from the series said “Over the last few months we have looked at every part of every race and investigated what we could do better! We feel that holding the price point has been essential and the feedback we are getting is that riders appreciate this, we understand that some courses and stages will be one man’s poison and another’s medicine however what we can assure is variety and challenge for everyone at all venues”
With just under five weeks to go until the series kicks off there are still spaces left if you are wanting to race, the POC Scottish Enduro Series are delighted that this season they will have Ambassadors from across the categories who will help promote the series, listen to riders feedback and pass on useful information to help improve the series. Ensuring that in 2016, the POC Scottish Enduro Series remains the Premier Enduro Series in the country. Duncan Nisbet was asked why Ambassadors? “We are excited about enduro racing and we now have a number of athletes that are dedicated to the discipline. The role of our ambassadors is to promote, motivate and inspire. Promote the sport of enduro, motivate competitors to get the most out of our events and to inspire new riders into our sport.”
No Fuss events PR/Media co-ordinator Michael Bonney had this to add “The POC Scottish Enduro Series has had 2 amazing seasons, as we enter the 3rd, No Fuss have yet again moved the series forward with the best in roll in/roll out timing and a more professional approach to rider safety with the training of race marshals. Combine these with even closer links to the Enduro World Series and unrivalled stage durations and it is easy to see why the POC Scottish Enduro Series is the “must do” enduro race series in the UK. “
