Retrospective: Italian Enduro Championships 2013 – Life Cycle

Finally we have reached the first Superenduro PRO race of the year in the alps! Sitting in the gondola the views were breathtaking. It was not only the fourth Superenduro PRO race of the year, but also the Italian championships, when we fight of the champions’ trilcolour jersey.

This is one of the events we prepare for all season, during the winter training sessions it’s one of the races we think of to make us push harder.

We decided to spend the week before the race in Madesimo to try and get up to speed, but it turned out to be a bad decision. The place is amazing, very pretty, but there was little else to do other than ride, think about the race, it was hard to shut that off.

On the tracks we found that good feeling and we’ve had some good results recently, so felt like the title could be ours… but the pressure we put on ourselves to win ended up as a bad joke. Little things, like we couldn’t sleep all week and on the night of the race we were awake at 2am and couldn’t get back to sleep, lying there awake, waiting for the alarm clock to tell us it was time to go racing. It was like when you’ve been out all night and have to go straight to work!

Sometimes you just know if it’s going to be your day or not… Some races go badly, some go well, but they all teach you something unique. This is what makes you grow and know yourself better, to understand your weaknesses and how to face them next time.

Climbing up to the second stage you wonder what you did wrong? Probably nothing, simply we are human and we all have our dreams and fears that motivate us. Sometimes they make us successful and sometimes they put you out of the game without you even knowing it.

We’re going to put this race behind us and move on with our season, hopefully stronger for this, because our motto is: Work hard, ride hard!
