After a tragic incident in his family, Vlad Sabau, a Romanian cross country rider, decided to start a charity project. Basically, every year in the past 4 years he as raced a pink race hardtail, that he sold at auction at the end of the season, donating the money for charity. In 2016, he continues his charity project.

Why Vlad Sabau is committed against breast cancer

As in previous years, all the money from this auction will be donated for charity cancer cases, that are chosen by his wife and dad. He says he experienced that most people suffering from cancer have to face a critical financial situation without getting support from any kind of foundation.
4 years ago, Vlad’s mother lost her fight against breast cancer and he wanted to show a sign against this awful disease. He started dressing pink and riding a pink bike, as a pink ribbon is the international symbol of breast cancer awareness. With this, he wants to express moral support for women with breast cancer. Vlad writes on his homepage: “The pink ribbon represents the fight against breast cancer, hope for the future, and the charitable goodness of people and businesses that publicly support the breast cancer movement. It is intended to evoke solidarity with women who currently have breast cancer.”

But he wanted more. He started to auction his pink bikes, donating any penny for families whose beloved members are faced with breast cancer. In the annual charity auction, Vlad Sabau is giving away his Cannondale F-Si Carbon. As usual, the bikes is pink, it is built up with the best parts you can imagine and furthermore signed by the Cannondale riders Manuel Fumic, Marco Aurelio Fontana and Henrique Avancini. The auction lasts till 4th of March 2016.
