YAK RU – Annapurna Challenge 2016 in Nepal
The YAK RU Annapurna Challenge 2016 is an extreme MTB stage race in Nepal that takes riders up to an altitude of 5416 meters. All the information on the race in the following press release.
Nepal’s Premier Mountain Biking Race
Yak Ru is among few of the toughest stage races in the world. It covers a distance of 240 Kilometers and reaches an altitude of 5416 meters in just 5 cycling days. There will be 5 stages of the race and one rest day in between at a high altitude location to allow better acclimatization before ascending to the 5416 meters Thorong-Las pass. Participants will enjoy two more days of group ride after the competition ends at an altitude of 3700 meters. The group ride along the spectacular semi-desert like terrain of the legendary Mustang valley gives the participants a bonus tour opportunity after taking part in the world’s toughest mountain biking race. A dip in the hot spring of Tatopani towards the end of the competition will probably be the highlight for many who may earn the tag of ‘DNF’ despite their best efforts.
If your idea of participating in The Yak Ru is going on an adventurous holiday, then you had better chosen an assisted Mount Everest climbing expedition. Yak Ru is an extreme mountain biking race that requires you to be prepared physically and mentally. You will encounter all nasty things Mother Nature could throw at you such as extremely cold weather, rain, snow blizzards, heat, and dust. The Annapurna terrain will test your wits to the max as you negotiate the slippery icy tracks while carrying your bike in the darkness during the wee hours of the morning to cross the high pass.
This is Yak Ru’s Third year and it has attracted almost all the top National riders to the race. This will make this year’s race tougher than last year as more versatile riders have joined the race. Yak Ru has also already started getting signups for its 2016 race one year in advance. This shows the race’s popularity around the world among the endurance mountain biker communities.
