How to service a Magura TS8R Lower Leg Fork

In order to guarantee consistent performance and top function – a suspension fork needs regular maintenance. Since 2012 MAGURA have utilised a grease based lubrication system instead of oil, this makes servicing even easier. Even though MAGURA doesn’t prescribe fixed service intervals as these are widely variable depending on weather conditions and intensity of use – a guideline of every 50 hours use as recommended by other manufacturers is surely a good starting point.

  • MAGURA Fork Meister Grease
  • Brush
  • Cleaning Cloth
  • Disc brake cleaner/degreaser

Zu Beginn des Service muss die Luft aus der Federgabel abgelassen ...
To begin with you need to release all the air from the suspension fork.
Zu Beginn des Service muss die Luft aus der Federgabel abgelassen und der Zugstufeneinstellknopf entfernt werden.
Now remove the rebound damping adjustment knob.
Im Anschluss mit Hilfe des 5 mm Inbus die beiden Schrauben am Casting entfernen.
Then use the 5mm hex key to remove both retaining bolts from the bottom of the casting.
Während der gesamten Demontage und Reinigung sollte darauf geachtet werden, dass sich die Kolbenstangen nicht verdrehen, da sonst die Montage des Castings im Anschluss erschwert wird.
During the entire disassembly and cleaning process take care not to turn the piston rod as this makes re-fitting the casting at the end more difficult.
Nun den gesamten oberen Teil der Federgabel gründlich reinigen.
Now clean the whole upper part of the suspension fork thoroughly.
Und im Anschluss auch die Buchsen im Casting säubern. ACHTUNG: Im unteren Teil der Federgabel befindet sich ein weitere Paar welches nur schwer zu erreichen aber dennoch gründlich zu reinigen ist. Hier empfehlen wir die Verwendung des Bremsenreiniger
Then clean out the bushings inside the casting. ATTENTION: there are another set of bushings lower down in the casting which need careful cleaning even though they are difficult to reach. Here we recommend you use disc brake cleaner.
Nun die Staubabstreicher und Führungsbuchsen mit dem MAGURA Fork Meister Grease fetten.
Now lubricate the wiper seals and bushings with MAGURA Fork Meister grease.
Die unteren Buchsen erreicht ihr am besten mit einem Pinsel oder langem Inbus.
You can reach the lower bushings with a long brush or hex key.
Im Anschluss das Casting wieder auf den oberen Teil der Federgabel schieben.
Now push the casting back onto the stanchion tubes.
Die Schraube mit der Bohrung muss auf der Dämpfungsseite montiert werden da durch sie noch der Zugstufeneinsteller geschoben wird.
The drilled-through bolt must be fitted to the damping side as the rebound adjusting rod passes through it.
Die Schrauben sollten mit einem Drehmoment von 7 Nm fixiert werden.
Tighten the bolts to a torque setting of 7 Nm.
Nun auch den Zugstufeneinsteller fetten und wieder einsetzen.
Now grease the rebound adjusting rod and push it through the bolt into position.
Am Ende die Federgabel wieder mit dem gewünschten Luftdruck befüllen.
To finish re-pressurize the fork to the desired pressure.
