Jim has been running these heavy duty knee pads from Ion for two seasons now. Having tested many other types, these have always been his preferred knee protection for longer, more gnarly rides.. The protection offered in many a scrape with the ground has been second to none, and the quality in their construction has proven to be top drawer, with the outer material, straps and velcro still in fantastic condition. The only sign of wear is thatafter so many crashes and washes, the inner protection of one of the pads has finally given in and started to disintegrate, but this problem could have been avoided by removing the inner protection whilst washing. The comfort and fit for a heavy duty pad has been great, although in the warmer, summer months, Jim has opted for a lighter pad on more XC-style rides, due to the K_Pact being a tad warmer than a lightweight pad. Jim has been highly impressed by the quality of these pads, which recently won the ‘Best In Test’ award of our group test.
