Local Outerwear Riding Kit
The Black Forest in Germany brings to mind many things, schnapps and cake initially, but it is also one of Germany’s top riding destinations and the local ride spot for the producers of Local Outerwear.

The brand is primed to take the UK by storm with their bold colours and high quality riding kit. We got a chance to check out some of the women’s kit to see how it looks and feels out on the trail. The ‘Valley’ short certainly live up to Local Outerwear’s promise to be ‘Loud, colourful and functional’. It’s loud and proud with bold contrast colour zips and punchy ‘chilli’ colouring. Local Outerwear definitely aren’t subscribing to the usual pink and black lady options. The Valley is a lighter short than their heavier weight ‘Pebble’, offering a ride-all-day option with zippered vents, and plenty of stash space including 2 secure zip pockets big enough for a smart phone and two unzipped pockets. The shorts match nicely but not overwhelmingly with the women’s ‘twirl’ s/s jersey. A top made from a 100 % recycled and quick dry fabric.
This kit is everything we expect from cycle kit, good looking and functional. The jersey has fast become a favourite with it’s cooling cap sleeves, although a decision to wear arm warmers with it may lead to some odd tan lines (wishful thinking in Scotland we realise). The shorts fit snugly with an adjustable belt loop and are flattering but a little short for our personal preference, with noticeable ‘gapping’ in the knee region.

The Local Valley shorts and Twirl Shirt kit exude quality, which it should do at the price! The cool looks and great fit will become a riding staple for many a season, we just wish the shorts were just a little bit longer.
Women’s Valley Short: € 139.99
Women’s Twirl Shirt € 69.99
