SRAM Level Ultimate
SRAM’s latest addition to their line up, the Level, is aimed squarely at domination of the XC / Trail sector, and at only 193g they are super light! Borrowing technology such as the Bleeding Edge from the Guide line-up, the new Level’s represent a total redesign, with a slimmed down caliper and a new lever. The Ultimate model is the top of the line and comes complete with a new Directlink lever with a beautiful carbon fibre blade, titanium hardware and ball bearing pivot. The one piece (lower models are two piece) sculpted monoblock caliper provides tenacious power delivery, with a precise and sharp bite point.
On the trail, we found the lever action beautiful, providing crisp and precise control over deceleration with a perfectly consistent bite point that never wandered. On very steep terrain and with heavier testers we found the levels started to feel outgunned. For those who prefer gravity-fuelled action or Alpine holidays, the bigger, four-piston Guide’s would be a better choice. SRAM are going from strength to strength and for XC and Trail riding the new SRAM Level Ultimates are the best out there!
