The Bearsuit Pro from the Norwegian protection specialists Sweet Protection makes an extremely solid impression straight out of the box. In the lab the Bearsuit Pro scored top marks and even the side pads showed unrivalled strength. This allows the most expensive knee pad in the category to inspire a great deal of confidence on the trails. Unfortunately it fell apart somewhat in reality. Our test-riders weren’t too impressed with the fit; the rigid construction is neither particularly comfortable nor well ventilated and the extension above the knee joint cuts into the thigh. While the zip is useful for dressing and undressing, the padding starts rubbing after a while. Far from ideal for long pedalling rides, this makes the Bearsuit Pro Knee is more suited to bike park sessions.
